If the Bauhaus was the House of Building, the Nauhaus (pronounced Now House) is a group of designers who are unapolegetically out to save the world. Their approach to design is to look at every material, every finish, mechanical system, wire and outlet and re-think how it should perform in an ideal sustainable design. What they have found is that if you reduce your demand for energy by designing in energy efficiency from the get-go, then it is possible to provide all of your energy and comfort needs affordably using renewable energy.

The Nauhaus works because it brings together a number of technical and artistic disciplines to create a truly integrated building system, proving once again that the whole can be greater than the sum of the parts. Our prototype project is an exciting example of the results of this sort of synthesis. We hope this approach catches on and to that end members of the Nauhaus team are involved in everything from consultation and design to construction and development to education through writing, publishing, lectures, and workshops.
